POST 1:MY REFLECTION ON CUIN 5331

Before starting this course, I expected to learn only basic website creation and simple digital tools. I was unsure whether I would be able to create full websites or understand design principles. I hoped the course would make me more confident in using technology for teaching.

During the course, I explored many digital tools: WordPress, Weebly, Wix, Canva, Piktochart, Carrd, and multiple Web 2.0 platforms. I learned about web design principles such as layout, alignment, contrast, typography, and ease of navigation. Completing each project helped me understand how digital tools support learning and how teachers can use them creatively.

By the end of the course, I gained confidence in building websites, designing pages, embedding multimedia, and evaluating online tools. I now see technology as a powerful resource for instruction, not just an accessory. My understanding of educational technology has changed because I now feel prepared to integrate digital tools into lessons that engage, support, and motivate students — especially emergent bilingual learners.

Post 2: Wix vs. Weebly – Which Website Builder Is Better for Beginners?

Choosing the right website builder can be challenging, especially for beginners who want an easy, affordable, and flexible tool. After exploring both Wix and Weebly, I realized that even though both platforms offer strong features, they work best for different types of users and goals.

Ease of Use

Weebly is much simpler and more beginner-friendly. Its drag-and-drop editor is straightforward, clean, and easy to learn. Wix offers more creative freedom but can feel overwhelming because of the many customization options and tools.

Templates and Design

Wix clearly wins in visual design. It offers over 900 modern templates, animations, and advanced customization features. Weebly’s template library is limited — around 50 options — but it is consistent and easier to edit without getting lost.

Pricing

Both platforms offer free plans, but with limitations.
Weebly tends to be cheaper, especially for small business sites or simple personal pages. Wix is usually more expensive unless it’s on promotion, but it gives more advanced tools for the price.

Features

  • Weebly includes basic e-commerce and email marketing tools.

  • Wix offers more powerful e-commerce options, built-in SEO tools, and stronger AI features.

My Preference

If I wanted to build a simple, informative website such as a personal blog, portfolio, or small business page, I would choose Weebly because it is easy to use and quick to set up.
For a more creative or visually detailed website, I would choose Wix because of the high-quality templates and design flexibility.
